A Vespa Ride through Eternal Rome

“A Roman native, a local connoisseur of the city’s intricate tapestry, navigates me through Rome’s labyrinthine streets on a classic Vespa scooter. As we zip past ancient monuments and bustling piazzas, I’m struck by the juxtaposition of the city’s timeless allure and the fleeting nature of our present moment.

Though my bag is laden with the latest digital contraptions, I’ve made a conscious decision to capture this quintessential Roman experience through the lens of an analog Nikon, loaded with timeless Ilford film. This feels like a fitting homage to a city steeped in history and tradition.

As the fireworks illuminate the sky above the Eternal City, casting a magical glow over its iconic landmarks, I can’t help but feel a sense of nostalgia. Tonight, it feels like the end of an era. Tomorrow, the 21st century will dawn, ushering in a new chapter in Rome’s storied history.

Yet, for this fleeting moment, I’m lost in the rhythm of the city, the hum of the Vespa engine, and the nostalgic melodies of Lucio Battisti echoing through my headphones. As we speed down Via dei Fori Imperiali, I can’t shake the feeling that this is more than just a night out in Rome. It’s a time capsule, a moment frozen in time, a testament to the enduring allure of this ancient city. Tonite is not tonight, Tonite only sounds like “La notte, la notte”.”

The term “contemplates” suggests a sense of introspection and reflection. As we examine Nikosono’s work, we are compelled to slow down, to pause and consider the deeper meaning behind the images….

Nikosono’s “Contemplates” is more than just an archive of photographs; it’s a journey through time, a meditation on life, and a testament to the enduring power of the photographic plate…

“Contemplates” is more than just an archive of photographs; it’s a meticulously woven tapestry of time, memory, and emotion. The title itself is a clever play on words, hinting at both the act of contemplation and the physical medium of the photographs.

Nikosono’s artistry lies not only in his ability to frame these moments but also in his choice of subjects. Whether it’s a bustling city street, a serene natural landscape, or a candid portrait, each photograph invites us to contemplate the complexities of human existence.

The term “contemplates” suggests a sense of introspection and reflection. As we examine Nikosono’s work, we are compelled to slow down, to pause and consider the deeper meaning behind the images. The photographs become more than just visual representations; they are invitations to explore our own thoughts, feelings, and memories.
