Imprévues — Abstract Street Photography Book

35,00  TTC

A scene, an alleyway, a year – There are street photography books that take us on a journey around the world. « Imprévues » (Unforseen) takes the opposite approach: radical stillness. From inside a room overlooking an anonymous alleyway, Nikosono does not move. The frame — a glass swing door, its black frames, the light wooden floor in the foreground — never changes. It is the world that passes by.

Description

Nikosono’s second photography book, published independently, offers the chance to discover the conceptual series “Imprévues”, whose photographs tell a compelling story with a cinematic feel.

The sequence is structured like a musical score: summer offers harsh, sharp light, vivid colours and masks on faces; autumn slows everything down, softens the tones and makes the coats heavier. The meticulous sequencing plays on breaks in rhythm—the black car cutting through the pedestrian sequence, the yellow La Poste van bursting in like a visual breath—and chromatic continuities that give the book an almost cinematic fluidity.
Nikosono implicitly evokes major references: Willy Ronis’s Parisian window, Vivian Maier’s tram mirror. But Imprévues is not a book of quotations. It is a work of patience and formal conviction, driven by a certainty: the frame is not a boundary, it is a bridge. Between the interior and the exterior, between the observer and the observed, between the intimate and the universal.
